Paws in the Pool

Summer is almost done, but two local pools are celebrating the end of the season with events just for dogs in September!

On Sunday, September 15, Birchtree Swim and Racquet Club [map] is hosting its annual “Paws in the Pool-aza” event, with proceeds going to the Hoover City Schools Foundation. For just $20 per family, bring your dogs and they can swim in the pool between 2-4pm.

“We are excited to host this event — open to anyone in the community — and the opportunity to give back to a great organization,” said Rebekah Crossman, an organizer of the event.

Next Sunday, September 22, head over to the Levite Jewish Community Center [map] from 1-4pm for their annual “Pooch Plunge” event. The entry is $15 per dog, with discounts for multiple dogs.

“We started the Pooch Plunge four years ago, said LJCC marketing director Katie Hausman. “A lot of our members and staff at the LJCC have a huge love for dogs, and we knew the dogs already love going on our trail. With summer ending, we want to give our four-legged friends an opportunity to take advantage of our pool!”

They partner with The Animal League of Birmingham, with proceeds benefiting the organization.
